Pop iconoclast Ron English is a skilled oil painter, as well as an iconic street artist, considered The Godfather of Street Art. Since 2005 he’s also been creating designer toys. Abraham Obama is the widely known image that impacted the 2008 American election.  Created by Ron English the poster was seen all across the United States portraying former president Obama and Abraham Lincoln merged together.

Kenny Scharf brings cartoon imagery to his colourful world creating beautiful and unique paintings, sculptures and street art murals. Scharf was a fixture in downtown New York City in the eighties and was part of the graffiti movement along with Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Today his work can be seen in the collections of big institutions as the Whitney Museum of American Art as well as the popular Wynwood Walls in Miami. One of the luminaries of today’s pop art Scharf has always navigated between high art and lowbrow.

Frank Kozik is a Spanish-American graphic artist born in Madrid in 1962. He is known for his designer toys, like the iconic Labbit. He’s also very well known for posters he created for alternative rock bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Melvins, The Offspring and Butthole Surfers. 

San Francisco born Tara McPherson has imagined and created a world of her own. Her innocent and dreamy characters are steeped in myths and legends of our day to day lives. Tara’s creations are translated into designer toys, paintings, sculptures, prints and rock posters for artists like Beck and Melvins. 

Laurie Lipton work has a taste of the masters she used to copy as a student in art school. She developed a very unique drawing style to translate her sometimes dark, sometimes humorous view into her work. Her black and white drawings and paintings are inspired by photographer Diane Arbus along with masters Rembrandt, Membling, Durer, Goya and Van Eyck. 

Liz McGrath brings to her sculptures a somber view of a consumer world in decay. Using several materials such as clays, paints, epoxy resins, upholstery fabrics, foam wood and wire, McGrath creates a world of her own out of this dark imagery. 

Art dealer and curator Jonathan Levine is one of the most important names in the lowbrow and pop surrealist community. Levine is responsible for bringing exposure and recognition to new artists from different countries. 

Matt Kennedy is the director of La Luz de Jesus Gallery which was established in 1986 as the brainchild of entrepreneur and art collector Billy Shire and is largely considered responsible for fostering a new school of California art. La Luz de Jesus is considered the bithplay of the pop surrealism movement.

Punk Art Surrealist Winston Smith is known for his “hand-carved” collages, and for his work as designer of album covers, flyers and logos for many punk bands. It’s his creation the legendary Dead Kennedys logo. His very political work has been published in fanzines, magazines, record albums, etc since the 1970’s.

Jesse Hazelip is a native of Cortez Colorado which is a city inside the Navajo and Ute Nation territory. He is a an artist working in different medias. He does graffiti, painting and sculpture, as well as performance and installations. One of the themes he seldom tackles in his work is the inhumane prison conditions in America.

Scott Hove makes art and experiences. Getting inspiration from decorative arts and Mexican muralists, Scott Hove uses a wide range of different materials to build installations, sculptures and paintings. He is behind the viral Cakeland series on the Internet.

Madsteez is a designer and artist whose murals have been painted in cities all over the world. His style is very unique, with bold color schemes. His strange creatures and abstract landscapes often portray a conversation with pop culture. 

Skinner is best known for his bizarre and fantasy fuelled imagery he projects in album covers, street murals, paintings and installations. It’s his creation one of the most iconic album covers of rock bands: Mastodon’s Once More ‘Round The Sun.

Alex Yanes is an artist from Miami. His very colourful and humorous sculptures and installations are inspired by skateboard-culture and his Cuban roots. 

Poster Boy is Henry Matyjewicz whose street art consists of modifying ad posters in New York City subway stations. He transforms those ads in collage-like works by cutting parts and pasting them back in different positions, altering their purpose completely. 

Colin Turner is director of Last Gasp Books, founded by his father, Ron Turner, in 1970. The publishing house is one of the most important in the world for comics and underground books.
